Payment settings and booking policies

Understand how accepted payment methods, deposits, saved cards, taxes, charges, and cancellation rules work together.

Where this lives

Open /service-specialist/settings/payments to manage how bookings are paid for, how payouts are routed, and what policy applies when bookings change.

The Payments setup sidebar includes:

  • Sales Payment Methods
  • Link Bank Accounts
  • Sales Tax
  • Service Charges
  • Payment Policies
  • Cancellation Policies

The main policy choices

Tobinrin currently supports three broad booking-payment approaches:

  • No payment policy
  • Confirm with a deposit
  • Secure with a card

Those policies work alongside your accepted payment methods, taxes, service charges, and cancellation policy.

How the pieces fit together

  • Accepted payment methods decide what shoppers are allowed to use at checkout.
  • Payment policies decide whether money or card details are required before a booking is secured.
  • Cancellation policies decide what is refunded, forfeited, or charged when a booking changes.
  • Taxes and service charges affect the final totals shoppers see.

A practical example

If you require a deposit, a shopper may pay part now and the rest at the appointment.

If you secure the booking with a card, you can keep card details on file for the rules defined in your policy.

If you charge neither upfront nor on file, the booking behaves more like a standard pay-later booking.
